Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 2008
Two legs from a 1000 fix: where is the 1100 DR?
At 1000 you fix your position 146°T, 1.3 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 125°T at 6.6 kn until 1015, then 027°T at 6.7 kn until 1100.
Give the 1100 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
