At 0935 you fix your position 031°T, 3.2 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 314°T at 9.8 kn until 0950, then 261°T at 8.6 kn until 1000.

Give the 1000 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
