At 0750 you fix your position 084°T, 1.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 062°T at 5.7 kn until 0810, then 348°T at 4.5 kn until 0840.

Give the 0840 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
