At 1420 you fix your position 355°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 120°T at 5.4 kn until 1445, then 343°T at 9.8 kn until 1455.

Give the 1455 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
