At 0830 you fix your position 039°T, 1.4 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 262°T at 9.4 kn until 0840, then 034°T at 6.7 kn until 0915.

Give the 0915 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
