Dividers: drag from one point to another on the chart

Start a drag on a charted object or buoy and it snaps to it. The readout gives the true bearing (and magnetic, 7°W) from where you start to where you are, and the distance in nautical miles.

Two legs from a 1540 fix: where is the 1615 DR?

At 1540 you fix your position 003°T, 2.2 nm from Mill stack. You steer 086°T at 9.7 kn until 1605, then 314°T at 6.1 kn until 1615.

Give the 1615 DR position as the true bearing FROM Kittle water tank to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
