Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 209001
Two legs from a 1005 fix: where is the 1050 DR?
At 1005 you fix your position 011°T, 1.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 062°T at 5.5 kn until 1035, then 299°T at 7.9 kn until 1050.
Give the 1050 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
