Dividers: drag from one point to another on the chart

Start a drag on a charted object or buoy and it snaps to it. The readout gives the true bearing (and magnetic, 7°W) from where you start to where you are, and the distance in nautical miles.

Two legs from a 0710 fix: where is the 0750 DR?

At 0710 you fix your position 144°T, 2.6 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 075°T at 5.7 kn until 0735, then 174°T at 4.4 kn until 0750.

Give the 0750 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
