At 0940 you fix your position 059°T, 3.5 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 235°T at 5.1 kn until 0950, then 154°T at 7.9 kn until 1005.

Give the 1005 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
