At 1515 you fix your position 229°T, 2.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 234°T at 4.0 kn until 1550, then 335°T at 8.4 kn until 1620.

Give the 1620 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
