At 0830 you fix your position 028°T, 2.0 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 284°T at 4.2 kn until 0840, then 053°T at 6.4 kn until 0850.

Give the 0850 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
