At 1130 you fix your position 035°T, 4.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 254°T at 6.1 kn until 1145, then 204°T at 6.7 kn until 1210.

Give the 1210 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
