At 1455 you fix your position 266°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 301°T at 9.5 kn until 1535, then 126°T at 4.6 kn until 1620.

Give the 1620 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
