At 1345 you fix your position 273°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 353°T at 7.1 kn until 1355, then 286°T at 5.6 kn until 1440.

Give the 1440 DR position as the true bearing FROM Westfield church spire to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
