At 0940 you fix your position 082°T, 2.8 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 021°T at 4.7 kn until 0950, then 148°T at 9.8 kn until 1000.

Give the 1000 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
