At 1235 you fix your position 028°T, 1.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 117°T at 8.8 kn until 1245, then 223°T at 4.8 kn until 1325.

Give the 1325 DR position as the true bearing FROM Kittle water tank to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
