At 1520 you fix your position 033°T, 3.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 318°T at 4.8 kn until 1550, then 251°T at 7.9 kn until 1605.

Give the 1605 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
