Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 226008
Two legs from a 1015 fix: where is the 1100 DR?
At 1015 you fix your position 062°T, 2.3 nm from Heron Point Light. You steer 061°T at 8.6 kn until 1040, then 200°T at 7.7 kn until 1100.
Give the 1100 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
