At 0710 you fix your position 355°T, 1.7 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 034°T at 9.7 kn until 0720, then 299°T at 5.0 kn until 0735.

Give the 0735 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
