At 0800 you fix your position 317°T, 1.4 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 008°T at 8.5 kn until 0810, then 267°T at 5.3 kn until 0830.

Give the 0830 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
