At 1100 you fix your position 053°T, 2.1 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 134°T at 7.8 kn until 1125, then 199°T at 4.1 kn until 1205.

Give the 1205 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
