At 1550 you fix your position 041°T, 2.2 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 348°T at 8.3 kn until 1615, then 281°T at 5.5 kn until 1625.

Give the 1625 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
