At 1355 you fix your position 262°T, 2.8 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 198°T at 6.9 kn until 1405, then 014°T at 9.3 kn until 1420.

Give the 1420 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
