At 1220 you fix your position 257°T, 2.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 298°T at 8.2 kn until 1230, then 212°T at 4.8 kn until 1255.

Give the 1255 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
