At 0915 you fix your position 095°T, 1.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 308°T at 5.0 kn until 0930, then 262°T at 9.4 kn until 0940.

Give the 0940 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
