At 1145 you fix your position 074°T, 1.6 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 058°T at 4.6 kn until 1215, then 287°T at 8.2 kn until 1230.

Give the 1230 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
