At 0755 you fix your position 044°T, 1.9 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 291°T at 9.2 kn until 0820, then 223°T at 4.7 kn until 0840.

Give the 0840 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
