Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 241002
Two legs from a 1045 fix: where is the 1125 DR?
At 1045 you fix your position 281°T, 2.5 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 145°T at 4.6 kn until 1055, then 179°T at 8.7 kn until 1125.
Give the 1125 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
