At 1055 you fix your position 038°T, 4.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 179°T at 4.0 kn until 1130, then 282°T at 4.9 kn until 1200.

Give the 1200 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
