At 1405 you fix your position 225°T, 1.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 086°T at 8.3 kn until 1415, then 028°T at 6.6 kn until 1430.

Give the 1430 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
