At 1235 you fix your position 257°T, 2.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 117°T at 9.6 kn until 1245, then 270°T at 6.8 kn until 1325.

Give the 1325 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
