At 1155 you fix your position 029°T, 2.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 012°T at 5.2 kn until 1210, then 288°T at 4.1 kn until 1225.

Give the 1225 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
