Dividers: drag from one point to another on the chart

Start a drag on a charted object or buoy and it snaps to it. The readout gives the true bearing (and magnetic, 7°W) from where you start to where you are, and the distance in nautical miles.

Two legs from a 1040 fix: where is the 1105 DR?

At 1040 you fix your position 047°T, 3.5 nm from Heron Point Light. You steer 143°T at 6.1 kn until 1050, then 200°T at 7.8 kn until 1105.

Give the 1105 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
