At 1115 you fix your position 000°T, 2.4 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 098°T at 4.2 kn until 1145, then 168°T at 8.3 kn until 1215.

Give the 1215 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
