At 0940 you fix your position 237°T, 2.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 358°T at 9.3 kn until 0950, then 322°T at 9.5 kn until 1005.

Give the 1005 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
