At 0940 you fix your position 011°T, 1.9 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 065°T at 5.2 kn until 1005, then 137°T at 7.9 kn until 1045.

Give the 1045 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
