At 1045 you fix your position 260°T, 3.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 246°T at 7.2 kn until 1055, then 334°T at 8.2 kn until 1105.

Give the 1105 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
