At 1105 you fix your position 072°T, 3.4 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 137°T at 5.8 kn until 1145, then 303°T at 6.8 kn until 1155.

Give the 1155 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
