At 1120 you fix your position 217°T, 1.2 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 305°T at 4.9 kn until 1205, then 346°T at 6.3 kn until 1225.

Give the 1225 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
