Dividers: drag from one point to another on the chart

Start a drag on a charted object or buoy and it snaps to it. The readout gives the true bearing (and magnetic, 7°W) from where you start to where you are, and the distance in nautical miles.

Two legs from a 1325 fix: where is the 1350 DR?

At 1325 you fix your position 066°T, 5.1 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 179°T at 8.0 kn until 1340, then 008°T at 6.1 kn until 1350.

Give the 1350 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
