At 1110 you fix your position 058°T, 3.0 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 150°T at 8.8 kn until 1125, then 237°T at 8.4 kn until 1145.

Give the 1145 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
