At 1220 you fix your position 061°T, 2.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 263°T at 8.9 kn until 1305, then 352°T at 7.3 kn until 1315.

Give the 1315 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
