At 1335 you fix your position 249°T, 1.3 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 318°T at 7.5 kn until 1405, then 242°T at 7.0 kn until 1445.

Give the 1445 DR position as the true bearing FROM Westfield church spire to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
