At 0850 you fix your position 066°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 197°T at 5.1 kn until 0900, then 092°T at 8.0 kn until 0910.

Give the 0910 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
