At 0800 you fix your position 201°T, 0.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 238°T at 8.2 kn until 0815, then 295°T at 4.8 kn until 0840.

Give the 0840 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
