At 0830 you fix your position 048°T, 3.1 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 145°T at 5.9 kn until 0900, then 245°T at 9.7 kn until 0915.

Give the 0915 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
