At 0755 you fix your position 208°T, 3.0 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 070°T at 8.9 kn until 0835, then 254°T at 8.8 kn until 0850.

Give the 0850 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
