At 1105 you fix your position 072°T, 3.6 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 296°T at 5.2 kn until 1115, then 145°T at 7.6 kn until 1145.

Give the 1145 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
