Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 271001
Two legs from a 1255 fix: where is the 1350 DR?
At 1255 you fix your position 177°T, 1.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 072°T at 5.7 kn until 1310, then 271°T at 6.0 kn until 1350.
Give the 1350 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
