At 1545 you fix your position 051°T, 3.5 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 072°T at 5.1 kn until 1600, then 217°T at 9.4 kn until 1645.

Give the 1645 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
